Enjoy the coffee, not the cups

Everyday, we complain about life not being fair. We always find excuses to take things for granted and when something does not go our way, we get frustrated and find reasons to shift the blame to somebody else. In our casual conversations, we often find ourselves talking about people whom we do not like and things that we hate doing. We tend to focus too much on things that are beyond our control and that makes us unhappy. It is true that the main source of our stress is indeed our desire to always have the best for ourselves, and when we do not achieve what we wish to achieve, we start grumbling about life.

If we are given an assortment of cups filled with coffee, we would consciously or unconsciously go for more expensive and nice-looking cups despite the fact that the quality of cup itself does not add any value to the coffee inside. What we want is the coffee, not the cups. Our life is the coffee and our career, family and positions in the society are all cups. They are only tools for holding our life, but we often tend to go for the best cups and then start eyeing at each other’s cups in life. The type of cup we have does not define or change the quality of life we live. If we concentrate too much on the quality of cups, we won’t be able to enjoy the coffee the Nature has given us.

The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who have learned to live with things that are less perfect. They don’t have the best of everything, but they just make the best of everything. If you live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and think positively everyday, you will be the happiest person on the planet. Work like you don’t need the money, love like you have never been hurt and dance like you do when nobody’s watching. You are a miracle. Your life either shines a light or casts a shadow. Please shine the light and enjoy the coffee.
